Psychotherapy
I believe in taking a holistic approach to therapy, treating the whole person and not just their symptoms. I use evidence-based techniques and work collaboratively with to help you achieve your goals.
I have over 17 years experience working with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. I also have a sub specialty working with eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder.
I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change, and that therapy can help unlock that potential. I provide a safe and supportive environment where my clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Shelley French, a seasoned mental health professional with 17 years of experience, is dedicated to helping clients understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through an empathetic and non-judgmental approach, she guides individuals on a journey of self-discovery, enabling them to gain new perspectives on themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.
I started out my career in mental health in 2007, in my core profession as a mental health nurse and have worked in various settings, including a young offenders prison, an inpatient unit for children and young people with mental health difficulties, and a specialist service for children, young people and adults with eating disorders. I also worked in a GP surgery helping with people of all ages with mental health problems, often recognising and working with people with neurodiversity, coaching, teaching and supporting. My core profession led me to do further specialist training in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Bolton University. I am dual trained as a mental health nurse (RMN) and a cognitive behavioural Psychotherapist. This essentially means I have a vast knowledge and skillset that can be tailored to your particular needs. I have also done further training in Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Narrative Exposure therapy (NET), Cognitive Behavioural therapy CBT-E.
